Job Summary

This position is responsible for executing the annual product marketing plans for the Preen Gardens business unit within the Consumer Lawn & Garden Division/Company 30. Based at Lebanon Seaboard’s HQ this position reports to the Director of Marketing, Preen and works closely with Sales, Marketing Services, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D Product Development, Accounting and relevant outside agencies to ensure that annual business goals, sales & profits for the Preen Gardens business unit are achieved.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: new product development, pricing / promotion plans, product packaging development, monthly / annual product projections, expense management, merchandising & digital asset creation
  • Assist with the development and execution of the annual business unit product marketing plans
  • Coordinate yearly product pricing plans and communicate with sales, retailers & customer service
  • Participate in product / brand research to better understand end user needs/wants, market trends & competitive activities to assist with potential new product development projects
  • Effectively manage and track annual marketing budget and identify opportunities to adjust spend accordingly
  • Assist sales in the creation & development of necessary customer presentations, annual product line reviews & business performance metrics charts
  • Conduct data analysis on sales, margins & inventory positions for both internal & external use
  • Work with cross functionally with internal stakeholders including: marketing services, purchasing / supply chain, operations, accounting, information technology & R&D
  • Foster working relationships with outside suppliers, agencies & designers to uncover opportunities
  • Maintain necessary Federal & State product registration requirements and stay up to date on relevant legislation / regulatory / marketing claim changes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education

 

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of / ability to learn the consumer lawn & garden industry
  • Working knowledge of route to market consumer channels - Big Box, Clubs, Hardware, Mass Merchants, Wholesale Distributors & e-Commerce
  • Effective project management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to recommend plans to maximize sales opportunities
  • Good analytical ability and understanding of financial statements
  • Understanding of marketing strategies, data analysis, and research methodologies
  • Ability to effectively manage cross functional relationships
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in consumer product development (Stage Gate) processes a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Software – especially Excel and PowerPoint

Work Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in product / brand management or comparable experience working within a CPG business
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management / Admin or other related field of study
