Job Summary

Lebanon Seaboard Corporation is recruiting an Assistant Controller to join our Corporate Headquarters, located in Lebanon, PA. This individual will play a critical part of preparing the company's monthly internal financial statements with a focus on cost accounting. This role will be integral in working with all departments of the organization and work together to maximize the financial performance of the company. This position will support the management team with financial analysis and have significant exposure to the senior management team and work very closely with the CFO of the company. Additionally, the individual will monitor system controls and assist with ensuring a proper internal controls structure is maintained. The external auditors will work closely with the Assistant Controller as well.

Functional Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the company's monthly internal financial statements
  • Oversight of cost accounting and working with the seven facilities to understand variances and drive improved cost performance
  • Assist the external auditors in the preparation of data for financial statement audit along with supporting information requested for income tax purposes
  • Sales and Use Tax compliance oversight
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are performed monthly and appropriately supported
  • Monitor system controls and assist in developing procedures to improve existing systems
  • Support management requests for financial information and analysis
  • Challenge company policies and procedures as they relate to the accounting department and make recommendations where appropriate
  • Facilitate and coordinate a majority of the information for all departments during the annual budget process
  • Ability to manage multi-location and multi-divisional transactions
  • Work with Management Team to provide meaningful financial information

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education

  • Demonstrate leadership abilities working within a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Computer Skills:
    • Proficient in all MS Office applications including Word and Excel
    • Knowledge of JD Edwards E1, preferred but not required

Work Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration / Accounting
  • CPA required
  • Proven work experience in a manufacturing or public accounting background
